Whether on a road bike, touring bike or e-bike – the Lake Constance region offers optimal conditions for an active holiday on two wheels. Flat, well-maintained cycle paths along the lake, narrow roads through the hilly hinterland, challenging trails with considerable altitude profiles: Lindau am Bodensee is a perfect starting point for cycling tours in the scenically varied region.
Lake Constance Cycle Path
Eventful days
The Lake Constance Cycle Route runs around Lake Constance for around 280 km. It connects three countries, lots of sights and varied landscapes. It is not for nothing that it is one of the most popular cycling routes in Europe.
By leaving out Untersee or Überlinger See, the tour can be shortened accordingly. The cycle path is signposted on asphalt and gravel paths with low gradients and is suitable for bicycles and e-bikes. We recommend starting the cycle path from Lindau. Maps and information material about the Lake Constance Cycle Path can be found at the Lindau Tourist Information Office at the Inselbahnhof.
- Length: approx. 280 km
- Metres in altitude: approx. 280 m
- Duration: approx. 24 h (pure cycling time)

Tips & tricks
In the summer months, the cycle route is very busy. To avoid nasty surprises and stress, it is advisable to book accommodation before you start your cycle tour. If possible, plan at least one extra overnight stay in Lindau at the end or beginning of the cycle route so that you can get to know the island and garden city better.
It’s easier to cycle with light luggage. So that you don’t have too much on your bike, you can leave your luggage with a luggage transport service.

The long-distance cycle route is mostly hilly – experienced cyclists will need three to five days to complete the route. The castles of Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau, the salt mines of Bad Reichenhall and a total of twelve lakes are among the sights to see. A cycle bus runs along the route.
