Hotel with historical treasures


In April 2016, the Hotel Alte Schule Lindau opened. Already since the beginning of the 15th century, the building can be found in the history of Lindau. At that time, today's Alte Schulplatz was still called Karolinenplatz and the adjacent, historic archway, the entrance to the island's core, was still a thing of the future. The name "Old School" is to be taken literally - once the daughters of Lindau patrician families were educated here. The building hides many treasures from past centuries: stone columns with filigree stonework from the 16th century and the well-known "Lindau ceiling", a slightly vaulted wooden beam ceiling, which has been preserved and freshly restored in many rooms.These are just two examples of the preserved contemporary history. Sometimes, when the island is covered in autumn fog and everything comes to rest, you can almost hear the old walls speak and imagine the stories they tell.

For a good start to the day, a rich buffet is ready for you every day. The hosts use products from the region, most of them in certified organic quality or with a positive eco-balance, so that stomach, heart and mind can enjoy together. Here's to a good morning!

Theme room in the old school


You can enjoy generous 35 m² in the comfort double rooms. Especially for a longer stay it is a good idea to literally give yourself space. Some rooms go over two floors and thus offer a special living experience. You will stay in our double rooms on 24 to 29 m². The furnishings are inspired by our three favorite places in the region - the flower island of Mainau, our local mountain on the lake the Pfänder or Lake Constance itself. The themed rooms will make your stay unique.

Hardly any room in the historic house resembles another - many beautiful details from past centuries could be preserved and restored. For example, you will find the "Lindau ceiling" - a historic beamed ceiling, half-timbering or columns with filigree stonework, which create a special flair. Also, the rooms are themed after the island of Mainau, the Pfänder or Lake Constance.

37 to 40 m², divided into a bedroom with bathroom en suite and a separate living room. Bathrobe and slippers and Bogner - bathroom accessories provide an extra touch of luxury. Especially if you want to enjoy the seclusion of your room during your stay or use it for work, you do not have to limit yourself spatially here.
